Books to read

These are books I've read or intend to read, fiction and non-fiction

Amazon.com: Marxism: Philosophy and Economics : Thomas Sowell
How ironic that Sowell, a famed conservative economist, would have written such a brilliant explanation of Marxism. Sowell clearly and intelligently lays out Marx's ideas while avoiding the 'disciples' of Marx who have misinterpreted him.
  | Mar 6, 2012
Amazon.com: Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives (9781567184853)
  | Jan 21, 2012
The Law of Success - Wikipedia
With the passage of the text into the public domain, numerous reprints have arisen for sale due to the popularity and originality of the material, with some copies being peddled through late-night infomercials.
  | Dec 20, 2010
Ishmael (novel) - Wikipedia
  | Dec 20, 2010
Amazon.com: Healthful Cuisine: Accessing the Lifeforce Within You Through Raw'
$21.95
  | May 29, 2010
Iconoclast: A Neuroscientist Reveals How to Think Differently

Anti-intellectualism in American Life - Wikipedia
  | Jul 5, 2009
Carmillia by J. Sheridan Le Fanu, Prologue
An original vampire novel, 1872
  | Apr 19, 2008
"Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, 1932
  | Feb 28, 2008
"The Valley of Silent Men" by James Oliver Curwood
Written in 1921, this is a great little story of adventure in northern Canada. My favorite character is the mystery girl, Marette Radisson.
  | Jul 25, 2007
Raw Food/Real World: 100 Recipes to Get the Glow
by Matthew Kenney and Sarma Melngailis. My friend Thea worked for Sarma in NYC.
  | Jun 26, 2007
"Welcome to the Monkey House" by Kurt Vonnegut
a collection of short stories including "Harrison Bergeron", "Welcome to the Monkey House", and "Manned Missiles".
  | May 31, 2007
"Fight Club", Chuck Palahniuk
Fight Club is one of my favorite movies and I'm currently reading the book.
  | Mar 15, 2007
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury - Wikipedia
Everyone needs to read this one, especially today!
  | Feb 22, 2007
"The Trial", Franz Kafka
  | Feb 19, 2007
Amazon.com: The Skeptical Environmentalist by Bjorn Lomborg
Exposes the myths promoted by many environmentalists.
  | Dec 6, 2006
"H. P. Lovecraft: Tales"
"The darkside of the dreamlife, reminiscent of the "Black" paintings of Goya, are conjured on the page with an obsessive richness that one would have to go back to Poe to find the equal."
  | Aug 15, 2006
"Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution"
I was going to read this book and I still might, but after reading the review by Jerry A. Coyne, this book is no longer on my list of priorities.
  | Aug 14, 2006
"Letters From Earth", Mark Twain
  | Aug 4, 2006
Art of War by SunTzu [SunZi] -English Hypertext
This is just amazing and it was written in 600 BC!
  | Jul 23, 2006
"The Prophet", Kahlil Gibran (1923)
This is an amazing book! So many things he wrote can be applied today.
  | Jul 4, 2006
"The Life You Were Born to Live", Dan Millman
Talks about The Life Purpose System, a method of life-purpose analysis that is similar to numerology yet more practical, using your date of birth as the indicator of the right livelihood.

Kind of interesting. Says I'm supposed to be a teacher.
  | Jun 17, 2006
"The Way to Love", Anthony De Mello
This is a great little pocket sized book containing a number of meditations that teach you not to be consumed by the desire for material possessions, recognition, or attention.
  | Jun 17, 2006
"Never Be Sick Again: Health is a Choice...", Raymond Francis
I know Raymond personally. He's been friends with my family for many years. Everyone should read this book and take what he says seriously. Be aware that we live in a toxic world and most of what you buy in the grocery store has no value.
  | Jun 17, 2006
"Snow Crash", Neal Stephenson
This is one of my all time favorite books! It was written in 1992 but parodies our present day world, dominated by the internet, hackers, virtual reality, and gated communities that declare independence from the United States, lol.
  | Jun 17, 2006
"Pattern Recognition", William Gibson
Great book!! A woman who gets paid to tell big ad agencies whats "cool", is hired by a mysterious wealthy man to find the source of strange video clips that are circulating around the internet.
